We had such a great immersion into the Holy Sites of Rome and Assisi that the students continue to talk about! John Sonnen's knowledge of these places and love for Our Lord made visiting these sites a pilgrimage not just a tour. He also promoted vocations at different times which was much appreciated! 

A group of us had significant travel struggles but during them all Cody Egner was in contact with me and helped us get to Rome as soon as we could. 

I will definitely be partnering with St. Charles Pilgrimages again on future school Pilgrimages. 

9-Day Pilgrimage to Rome & Assisi w/ Saint Albert High School

Trip was fantastic…John our tour guide was wonderful. Flight out was an issue as we missed connecting flight and were required to sped a night in Newark which was not ideal. However, overall had a great experience!

We had a wonderful time.  John our guide was so knowledgeable and helpful - I can't believe how much he knows about the catholic faith and all the different religious sites - it was truly beautiful to have a guide share in our faith and provide so much insight. John was very accommodating and patient - we had a group of teenagers, parents and one grandparent.  The food was delicious and we had great accommodations.  Thank you John for such a wonderful pilgrimage - you are truly amazing! 

I will forever cherish this remarkable journey of faith. Cody said upon our arrival that when you visit Rome as a tourist you take Rome in.  When you go to Rome as a pilgrim, Rome will take YOU IN.  His knowledge of our faith and of these historical places made this journey unforgettable.

The pilgrimage was exactly what I had been hoping and praying for. Our guide, Cody Egner, did a fantastic job by his personal witness of faith as well as his emphasis on the spiritual life, on grace, and on becoming a better disciple of Christ. My parishioners were able to not only enjoy the beauty of Rome but also to understand its spiritual symbolism and significance. All of the pilgrims mentioned how life-changing and faith-enriching this pilgrimage was for them. 

We had a great time. The places we visited had beautiful artwork, architecture and we got plenty of exercise!
The food was delicious, the accommodations were great and we enjoyed the built in free time.
Mass times were reverent. We were with a great group of people!

A great pilgrimage with great people, including two fantastic priests. Cody Egner, our tour guide, was deeply versed in the Catholic faith, very knowledgeable of the holy sites of Rome and Assisi and helped create a truly Catholic experience.  Very well organized. We had a wonderful time. I very much appreciated daily Mass in so many different chapels and sanctuaries, both because it kept us focused on this being a pilgrimage and it was wonderful to be able to worship so close to the relics of our forebearers in the faith. The balance between seeing many spaces and relics while giving time and space for individual exploration and prayer was excellent.

Our two daughters came along, ages 10 and 12. It was appropriate for them and I am very glad that they came. That said, the pilgrimage is likely not appropriate for all children of that age. It is a lot of walking, and some of the relics and locations could be a bit scary for children. For our daughters it was a wonderful experience.

In hindsight I probably would have skipped the winery tour with them. I enjoyed it very much but the explanations went over their head and I suspect most 10- to 12-year-olds would turn down the fancy adult food.

Great priests, wonderful people, and the food was good, but accommodations were sub-par.  
You did a great job as guide and were very knowledgeable and informative. 
Thanks for making this Pilgrimage spiritual and enjoyable.

John Sonnen was a wonderful guide for our pilgrimage group, and helped us maximize our time in Rome. As a priest who lived in Rome for 5 years, I was very impressed with John's knowledge of the city, and I thought he did an outstanding job shepherding our group around. He was also very friendly to traditional liturgy, which I appreciated as a diocesan priest with a love of our Catholic traditions. Five stars!

Amazing Trip!  The itinerary was very thoughtful.  The sites visited were explained well with specific relevance to our Catholic faith.  All the guides were very professional, easy to talk to, and communicated very well in English.  We are already thinking about our next St. Charles Pilgrimage!

Absolutely amazing pilgrimage to Italy.  This was my first time and John Sonnen from St. Charles Pilgrimages was an excellent guide and supported all of us with every detail.  The sites, the food, the lodging  were all terrific.  We were truly blessed with beautiful weather and a providential encounter while walking through Rome, we stopped at an intersection and were surprised with the Pope passing us in his motorcade!  John got us right up to the perimeter fencing on St. Peter's Square to see Pope Leo XIV during his Wed audience.  The information John shared, the basilicas he took us to in Assisi, Florence and Rome - just the whole trip made for a great spiritual renewal.  Could not have prayed for a more perfect pilgrimage. 11-Day Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Italy w/ Fr. Kunath & Fr. McCullough

John is excellent tour guide.  He is very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. He knew a lot of information about the places where we visited.  We had very blessed time.  

Truely enjoyed our trip.  The pace was comfortable in that there was enough down time / free time but not too much.  I would have enjoyed more group meals and I was separated from the group a couple of times due to poor planning.  Would recommend having more direction for future and better method of staying together when crowds got out of control as is expected in a Jubilee year.  God Bless! We hope to go on more trips in the future, God willing.  

12-Day Pilgrimage to Rome w/ the Confraternity of St. Peter FSSP

The Relics Tour far exceeded my expectations. I hadn’t realized the full significance of the relics we would see or how meaningful this trip would be in connection with the Jubilee Year in Rome. I now have a lot of reading to do on the saints, places, and relics we encountered!

The tour was thoughtfully curated by Fr. Paul Haverstock, Sean Pilcher, and John from St. Charles Pilgrimage. They worked with excellent local guides who shared rich insights on the Colosseum and Roman Forum, Orvieto, the Vatican Museums, and the catacombs, among others. I would not have gained nearly as much from these sites without the history and backstories they provided. Their knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience so much more interesting and special.

There was plenty of walking, and the crowds in Rome were large, but the experience was well worth it. Our convent accommodations were comfortable and conveniently located just a block from the Vatican, and the order of nuns who hosted us were wonderfully kind. We were also blessed with blue skies, sunshine, and warm, humid days during our late-October stay in Rome.  Thankfully, it wasn't as warm at night and we were able to make due with a ceiling fan and open windows in our room.

We had a wonderful time and met  amazing people ! The trip was very organized .     The churches we visited were breathtaking.  Hotel accommodations were very clean and comfortable.   Enjoyed the fellowship dinners.  Definitely would recommend this amazing pilgrimage. ! 

11-Day Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Italy w/ Archbishop Dennis Schnurr

Fabulous time and especially the spiritual aspects of the pilgrimage. Daily availability of the sacraments was beneficial overall for everyone "on board." While this was a faith based experiewnce there was no reason for not enjoying immensely and having a very wonderful time with those who travelled. Exceptional guide in Cody and just a "10" out of 10 for overall experience!

It was a very spiritual pilgrimage.  Our guide, Cody,  was constantly reminding us to be mindful of the abundance of wealth we  have in our Catholic heritage.  It made the pilgrimage so much more meaningful. And of course, the food, accommodations,  fellowship and magnificent churches and shrines were A+! Thank you, Cody, for a wonderful experience.

11-Day Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Italy with Archbishop Dennis Schnurr
We recently had the privilege of participating in the 11-Day Jubilee Year Pilgrimage to Italy, led by Archbishop Dennis Schnurr. We can truly say it was a life-changing experience. From the moment we arrived, this journey was filled with deep spiritual reflection, and rich historical exploration.
One of the highlights of the pilgrimage was visiting St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican, where we were able to connect with our faith in a way that felt truly personal. The Archbishop's leadership and spiritual guidance throughout the trip helped us reflect on the significance of each site, from the Holy Doors to the Sistine Chapel.
We also had the chance to experience the culture and beauty of Italy, with its magnificent churches, art, and architecture. Every day felt like a step closer to God, as we prayed together and visited sacred places that have shaped the Catholic faith for centuries.
This pilgrimage was a journey of the heart. Archbishop Schnurr’s thoughtful reflections and homilies enriched our time and made every stop meaningful. We have returned home with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper connection to our faith.
If you ever have the chance to go on this pilgrimage, I highly recommend it. It’s an unforgettable spiritual experience that will stay with you long after the journey ends.

Our accommodations were excellent, and our tour guide was first rate. We visited many of the usual places when people go on pilgrimage to Portugal, like Fatima, but also the lovely island of Madeira where Bl. Karl of Austria is buried. Along the way, we visited several places that had an unexpectedly profound impact on me, like the site of the Eucharistic miracle at Santarem. A marvellous experience!

It was wonderful.  My wife and I had never taken a pilgrimage before.  Our experience was deeply moving.  The sites we visited and Cody's knowledge made this trip unforgettable.  We intend to do another one in the near future.

I still cannot believe all I saw and did! What a fantastic Jubilee year pilgrimage I experienced. Having Mass in all the beautiful and meaningful churches and chapels was a once in a lifetime experience. Including every Basilica in Rome for the plenary indulgence was extraordinary. Seeing Pope Leo and walking in the footsteps of many saints was exciting. The many special and unique places we ate and that where highlighted was noted by me. Thank you for this opportunity.

I welcomed the idea of being able to opt out of some activities. This trip included a lot of walking. Having had a very busy time right before the trip - being able to opt out as I saw fit allowed me time to 'regroup' and spend some time in quite reflection as a pilgrim.

St Charles Catholic Pilgrimages is a wonderful company. They win the prize for the most responsive to questions. They always provided great help and assistance. I appreciate that they continually focused on the pilgrimage rather than this being a secular experience. They are very knowledgeable about Rome where our tour was. Probably the most impactful thing they did for us was to hire our guide, Marcello. He could not have been more caring and helpful. He gets all the stars. He went well beyond what he was paid to do, I am certain. It was a happy surprise to see Cody Egner the last evening of our tour. All in all, there are only minor things that could have been better for my pilgrimage experience and I would travel with St. Charles again.

We had an incredible visit to Italy thanks to the help of the team at St. Charles Pilgrimages! Our guides had expert knowledge throughout the trip, we had amazing accommodations, and we were lead through an impactful spiritual journey from start to finish.  I 100% recommend working with this team!

I would highly recommend this trip if you don’t want to be completely alone while traveling but also want some time on your own to explore as well! We definitely saw most of the best sights in Rome!

10-Day Holy Year Pilgrimage to Rome & Assisi w/ Fr. Shawn Roser

This trip was very well planned for what was basically 8 days of pilgrimage disregarding the days of travel. If you were wanted to see the Vatican, the other three Holy doors and Assisi, this was the prefect trip. 

This was my first Pilgrimage.  Portugal is so beautiful.  Our tour guide was awesome, so much knowledge of our sites.  Island of Madeira was out of this world.  Even more breathtaking than Hawaii.  I would totally travel there again.  St. Charles, please keep both destinations on your list. 

I had a really good time. The fellow travelers were so kind, the guide was awesome, hotels excellent. And, of course, the priest Fr. Barnes was out of this world!

Cody, it was great to meet you in Rome, and just wanted to thank you again for my spiritual adventure with St. Charles Pilgrimages. Initially, I was a little nervous because I was traveling alone, knew just a few fellow parishioners who were going and have never previously traveled to Europe. Within a day, I felt a real connection, there were pilgrims from all over the US, and it was as if we had known each other forever. St. Charles Pilgrimages was very detailed & organized, from the pre-departure planning to every step of the way in Rome & Assisi. The pilgrimage changed my life and renewed my faith. Father Carlo Santa Teresa was a great leader and spiritual mentor. Our guide Marcelo Peyrou was excellent, he helped us even during our free time, went above and beyond. The pilgrimage was a life- changing experience! Simply put, St. Charles Pilgrimage, Father Shawn, and our expert guides John and Adrian gave us 1,000% of their knowledge, their compassion, their wisdom, their insights…every minute of everyday. The planning, the sights, the food, the education, the FUN, the laughter, the fellowship, the fortification of faith….truly, an experience of a lifetime to be forever treasured!

This Pilgrimage to Fatima and Madeira was life changing. The pace was brisk, but that allowed us to see many holy sights and other beautiful areas in Portugal. Our tour guide, Luis, could not have been better-he was very well prepared, had a good sense of humor, and worked hard to get us where we needed to be. Our bus driver Victor was outstanding as well. The two Priests and Deacons were inspiring, and daily Mass was a highlight. The individuals who were on the Pilgrimage with us were so kind and it was a joy to get to know them and hear about their faith journeys. Oh-and the food, wine, and beer were all great!!


Rome with the FSSP was a wonderful experience.  The priests offered daily mass and provided spiritual guidance, our organizer created a thoughtful itinerary, and our Italian guides helped us navigate logistics and provided cultural and historic context to all we experienced.  My daughter and I enjoyed every minute and hope to do another pilgrimage in the future.

Thank you for a very good pilgrimage. The visits to the important places were well organized with sufficient time to see everything and pray. The tour guides gave very interesting explanations, they are well prepared and informative. It was helpful to have plenty of free time for personal activities.
The buses were great.
The hotel Cecil was good, although the shower box was quite small. The personal were always kind and helpful. The breakfast was great.
In my opinion it might have been nice to have more meals together as a group, as well as more Masses and prayer as a group. 



This was my first solo international trip, and it couldn’t have gone better!!! Having the details taken care left me to enjoy the best parts of the places we visited. The guides had a wealth of insider info that they were very happy to share. There were so many places we saw that I would have never been able to find on my own. Very faith affirming! Loved the audience with the Pope and Mass with him on Sunday. Processing through the Holy Door at St. Peter’s was very special. Loved all the beautiful churches and getting to attend Mass in so many stunning chapels. Great pilgrimage…one I will never forget. Loved Father Roser! He was a great addition to the trip!!

The trip was well worth taking for anyone considering a pilgrimage. Portugal and the people there are amazing. I feel we were especially blessed with an outstanding guide who was with us the entire journey. He was so knowledgeable and easy going, it made the experience for us very nice. The island of Madeira was breathtaking. It would have been nice if we could have stayed an additional day or 2 there. Learning about Blessed Karl and about the whole Fatima story was inspiring. Highly recommend this trip!

This was a wonderful pilgrimage and we enjoyed the experience very much.  

Had a great time.  Saw great sites with wonderful guides.   The food was fantastic!!!   Plus the tour director was really interesting.  Had great insights about the faith.   Truly glad I went!!!

We had a wonderful time, nice people, great accommodation, food  is delicious, and  we keep up with our schedule, Cody is knowledgable and tag team with Father Wilson is perfect combination, no dull moments. :-).
